The AOSpine Advanced Live Tissue Training on anterior deformity correction will take place in a dedicated live tissue laboratory at Uppsala University Hospital. Uppsala University is Scandinavia’s first university, founded in 1477 in the former Swedish capital Uppsala, with a great track record of multiple Nobel Laureates and world-class research.
This event will give excellent possibilities for participants to train anterior spinal deformity surgery, as well as a forum for open discussions which add to the value of this course. With its unique focus on anterior deformity surgery this course is unique in the Nordic countries and will be attractive to spinal surgeons from all over the world.

Learning objectives
Apply the AOSpine Principles to the correction of the most common spinal deformities of idiopathic and degenerative origin
Identify the pros and cons of anterior and posterior surgical approaches
Inform the patient and his/her guardian thoroughly so that the major preoperative decisions can be taken in agreement
Predict and recognize potential surgical problems with the anterior approach so that appropriate preparation can be carried out (positioning, instrumentation, etc.)
Identify anatomical structures and minimize tissue damages
Recognize and manage difficult situations and potential complications
Scrutinize direct postoperative complications and late problems so that they can be addressed
