Spinal Simulation Training Concept.
In this hospital based course participants will train minimally invasive pedicle screw insertion and injection techniques under simulated X-ray guidance.
The training is performed on high-fidelity training simulators using real surgical instruments. All participants will perform facet joint injection and pedicle screw insertion on two different simulators, while receiving real-time feedback both from the simulator and the faculty member.
During this intense 90min simulation training session, participants will practice:
Understanding elementary C-arm movements
Comprehensive understanding of spine anatomy
The spine anatomy under X-Ray and how to relate views to CT
Learn instrumentation under X-Ray and CT guidance
Facet joint infiltration:
Find different ways of access facet joint with the needle
Safely place needle tip into target area
Pedicle screw insertion:
Define entry point of the pedicle screw
Safely position the working cannula with hammer
Inserting an appropriately-sized pedicle screw
One of the simulators that will be used is presented in this video.
This course includes mandatory pre-course online learning. The online learning activities will commence two weeks prior to face-to-face practical training.
During the face-to-face practical training, participants will be divided into groups with different start and end times. The grouping of participants and the start/end times for each group will be communicated after registration.
