Description

The course intends to cover the general principles critical in recognition, diagnosis, and management of traumatic, infectious and degenerative conditions of the spine. The course content will be delivered in two modalities:
1. Lectures covering the various areas and
2. Practical with case scenarios and hands-on training on synbones.

Learning objectives
Describe the presentation, evaluation and management of a patient with trauma, infection or degenerative spine condition
Describe the principles of management of suspected spinal cord injury
Perform an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion on artificial bone models
Perform pedicle screw fixation of the lumbosacral spine on artificial bone model

Target participants

All medical personnel involved in care of spine patients are invited to participate in this course. This includes nurses, physiotherapists, plaster technicians, orthopedic clinical officers, GPs, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, spinal surgeons and trainees in the fields of orthopedics, neurosurgery and radiology.
